Front office receptionist

The first and last face a guest sees: checking people in and out, taking payments, answering the phone and fixing whatever went wrong between arrival and breakfast. In most hotels reception is the nerve centre that every other department leans on.

A real shift

An early shift runs roughly 7am to 3pm and is all check-outs, bill queries and luggage; the late shift picks up arrivals, room moves and the guest whose booking never came through. Handover notes are sacred.
