Learning and development manager

Designs and delivers training for hospitality teams, from onboarding and compliance to leadership programmes. In many groups the role also manages apprenticeships funded through the apprenticeship levy, working with training providers. The aim is to raise standards and keep people longer by showing them a career path.

A real shift

Running sessions in venues and training rooms, building e-learning modules and checking that mandatory courses such as food safety and licensing are complete. Time also goes on coaching managers to train their own teams. Impact is measured through retention, internal promotions and guest scores.
