Hospitality in Ireland

Ireland's pub culture is world-famous, with music sessions and community pubs at its heart. Dublin and Galway have strong restaurant scenes. Tourism drives much of the hospitality economy.

Tipping

Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory. In restaurants, 10-15% is common for good service. Pubs generally do not expect tips for drinks.

Working there

Hospitality workers are covered by national minimum wage and employment law. Many staff are international, including EU citizens who can work freely. Non-EU workers usually need employment permits, which can be restrictive for entry-level roles.

Rules on pay and visas change. Check official government guidance before you move.
